In this episode you’ll learn how Kevin’s struggles led him to develop ManageFlitter. He talks about the need for us to go back to basics by having a great looking profile that includes a standout profile photo and header image and a compelling bio. He also shares techniques to help grow your following and discusses the power of Twitter lists.

Are you ready to learn valuable tips that will help you in your quest to manage your Twitter smarter? Let’s go!

Episode Highlights:

  • Back to basics: Have all the basics in place. Post a good profile photo. Make sure your bio is nice and clear and include a link to it.
  • Start tweeting. Don’t be scared to tweet. Share what you’re reading and learning online. You can’t expect to grow your account in a meaningful manner if you don’t contribute to Twitter.
  • Start following relevant people. Target your market. A technique that is underutilized and very powerful is to follow other people’s account followers and accounts that they follow. Follow your competitors. It’s an open social media network. You can follow your competitor’s followers. We all piggyback off each other. It does take a bit of time. Not everyone is going to follow you back but a good proportion will.
  • Twitter ads are a legitimate way to grow your account but can be expensive. Very targeted and calibrated ads is a technique to grow your account. Try experimenting with a small number of ads. Run A/B tests.
  • Take advantage of Twitter lists. People underestimate them. A Twitter list is a curated group of Twitter accounts. Engage with people and put into a Twitter list. Kevin has curated a list of tech startups that include thought leaders in that industry. Build your own Twitter lists and use them to stay connected to those you’re targeting.
