We invited our friends from Hootsuite to come on the chat and kick it off by answering one pressing question about Twitter marketing.
Ask @hootsuite: What are the benefits to pinning a tweet on your profile? #TwitterSmarter pic.twitter.com/AqbmJtJ9wi
— Madalyn Sklar ? Ranked Houston’s #1 Social Media (@MadalynSklar) April 5, 2018
1|2 A pinned tweet acts as an extension of your bio. It’s one of the first things that people see when they come to your profile to decide if you’re worth a follow.
Showcase your best content with a pin. And make sure to switch it up every so often! #TwitterSmarter pic.twitter.com/NoevcsYnKG
— Hootsuite (@hootsuite) 5 April 2018
2|2 Overall, having a pinned tweet offers a bit more insight into who you are. Write up a quick excerpt about your favorite things or what people can expect to see from your tweets. If your thoughts align, they'll want to follow you! #TwitterSmarter pic.twitter.com/0omng8BIDT

A1: Twitter is all about making connections and people visit your Twitter profile page a lot – probably more than you think (check how often in Twitter analytics) – optimize it like a landing page where follows and link click are "conversions" #TwitterSmarter
— David Boutin (@dmboutin) April 5, 2018
A1b: Use your header photo like a headline that drives people to keep reading, your bio is like a byline to spark more interest, and use your pinned tweet as your CTA to get people to share or click through to your site #TwitterSmarter
— David Boutin (@dmboutin) April 5, 2018
A1c: Also, optimize your bio for search, using keywords you want to be found for. People are looking to connect with similar accounts on Twitter so make it easy for them to find you ? #TwitterSmarter
— David Boutin (@dmboutin) April 5, 2018

A7 Avoid the "Egg" #twittersmarter
— Toby Metcalf (@Toby_Metcalf) April 5, 2018
A7 not having a bio at all, or never showing a human side. Some brands take it too seriously and therefore suck all of the humanity and personality out of their bio. #TwitterSmarter

A7:
– Generic hashtags
– A theme color that makes it hard to see links/hashtags (brighter colors)
– Having irrelevant information#TwitterSmarter— influencerTONY ? 90 Vids/90 Days (@InfluencerTony) 5 April 2018
A7: Folks who only retweet and never post anything original miss the opportunity to create a strong first impression of who they are and what their own authentic voice sounds like.#Twittersmarter

A8b: I also really love the @Animoto tool for creating videos that can be used on a pinned (or any) tweet. It's super easy to use to make pro looking marketing videos. It is a paid tool but well worth it IMO ? #TwitterSmarter

A8: A great tool that will help you easily create a nice Twitter header is @canva. They have the specs and layouts. It's almost too easy! I actually hired @FreshSparks to create my Twitter header. #TwitterSmarter https://t.co/O5m1nbLWi1

A8 One of the best tools to create a great Twitter profile is your eyes. Look at profiles that seem great to you, and figure out what makes them click. Then reverently steal their ideas. #TwitterSmarter

A8: Twitter allows you to customize your own color scheme via computer! Also creating your own GIFs would be interesting to add a custom look… #TwitterSmarter

A8: Want help with your bio – pay attention to people you're following already. What do there bios look like? What do you like (copy that concept), what don't you like (avoid that)? You can learn a lot just by using Twitter! #TwitterSmarter pic.twitter.com/BB7SHEVPIy

A8 @canva and @Ripl_App can help with branded images and videos. Otherwise, I say do a brand identity audit to make sure you understand your identity. Make sure your logo is representative of that, and with that your profiles should follow suit. #TwitterSmarter
