We spend so much time on social media these days, but it’s not always efficient. And if you’re using these platforms as a way to build your personal brand or business, you have to be smart and use your time wisely if you want results.
In all of my years in the online space, I’ve learned a thing or two about using social media strategically, including Twitter productivity. After all, I value my time and I want to make sure I’m making the most of it. And I want to help you do the same!
If you’re ready to quit wasting time and maximize it instead, these tips are a must. They’ll make it so much easier for you to manage your Twitter presence without any additional stress or time out of your day.
These days, it’s so easy to get caught up in mindless scrolling on social media. One second you’re bored, so you pick up your phone and start thumbing your way through your Twitter feed. And the next thing you know, a half-hour has gone by! That’s not good!
Unless you’re a social media manager, you don’t need to spend all day long on Twitter. And even those who work in the social media field need a break from time to time. The best way to boost your Twitter productivity isn’t just about how you use the platform while you’re on it. It’s also about giving yourself a break when needed.
Consider limiting how much time you spend on social media each day. If you want, you can even block off time in your calendar to dedicate to reading tweets and engaging with other people. This way, the time you’re actually spending on Twitter will be much more worthwhile and done with purpose.
While we’re on the topic of setting designated social media time into your day, why not make the most of it? To really see results on Twitter, you want to be smart about how you’re using the platform. And there are a few daily, weekly, and monthly tasks you can start incorporating into your schedule to help you out.

Another smart way to increase your Twitter productivity is to be wise about when you’re posting content. Think about it… If you’re sharing all of your posts when your target audience is asleep, you’re not going to get the engagement you hoped for. Ultimately, it’ll be a waste of time and you’ll wind up feeling frustrated.
Instead, get smart about your posting schedule. Do some research and determine the best times to share new content on your profile. According to CoSchedule’s research, it depends on your business. For example, if you’re a B2C company, the best times could be 8 AM to 10 AM, 12 PM, and 7 PM to 9 PM. Test and see what works for you. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new times.
Posting in real-time on Twitter is great, but it’s not always practical. When we have packed schedules, we can’t drop what we’re doing to navigate to Twitter and share content. This is why scheduling tools really come in handy.
This way, you can fill your queue with amazing posts and go on about your day without having to worry about it. And while you’re busy tackling your to-do list, you have fresh content going out to your followers that provides value and directs them to your website.

Just remember that it’s totally cool to automate blog posts and promotional content, but you should never automate engagement. That always needs to be genuine and done in real-time.
Now that you have your preferred third-party scheduler in your social media toolbox, it’s time to really maximize your Twitter productivity. And we can do that with a technique called batching.
If you’re not familiar with batching, it’s essentially doing tasks in sets. So, if you’ve been scheduling your Twitter content every single day, that’s not the most efficient way to go about it. With batching, you would sit down and use a block of time to schedule all of your content for an entire week (or even a full month if you’re feeling ambitious).
You see, it’s so much easier to keep scheduling content once you get into the groove. And if you batch schedule an entire week’s worth of tweets at one time, you won’t have to worry about it again for a few more days. It’s one less thing to stress about and you can eliminate it from your daily to-do list.
Do you ever search your name or your brand name on Twitter? If not, you could be missing out on important conversations. The thing is, people don’t always tag the brands they’re talking about in their tweets. And if they don’t tag you, it won’t show up in your notifications, which means you’ll never see what they said. Unless you look for it yourself!
That’s why I’d recommend using a social listening tool (like Brand24, for example) to keep track of what people are saying about you. This way, you’ll never miss a beat. It displays all mentions of your brand on Twitter and gives you a quick and easy way to reply. Plus, it has other great features like sentiment analysis and mention analytics. Also, Twitter is currently testing a feature that would allow you to follow topics. This means you could follow mentions of your name or your brand name to stay updated as well. But unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until this feature hits our accounts!
