How to Manage Social Media as a Busy Entrepreneur

A person seated at a desk smiles broadly while using a laptop computer. Also visible on the desk are an open book, papers, and pencils.

Is it possible to easily manage social media tasks when you’re a busy entrepreneur? Absolutely! You just need to be smart about how you’re spending time when it comes to your social media presence. By being strategic about the actions you take, you’ll see a bigger return on your investment without it taking too much time.

In this post, you’ll learn helpful tips for being more efficient with your social media marketing. This way, you’re able to maintain active accounts, generate engagement, and still focus on other important business tasks.

How to Manage Social Media as a Busy Entrepreneur

These eight tips will be a game-changer in helping you find the time to dedicate to social media:

1. Master a Couple Platforms Instead of Being Everywhere

Listen, it’s tempting to join every social media platform under the sun. We often think we’re missing out if we don’t. Hello FOMO! However, this simply isn’t practical advice. If it’s just you running the show, that’s a lot for one person to take on. And it’ll quickly become difficult to manage social media tasks when you have five different platforms to create content for.

Instead, it’ll be better for you to master just one or two platforms instead. To help you decide which ones to use, there are a couple things to consider. Where does your audience spend their time online? And which platforms will allow you to shine? Once you’ve determined which two platforms fit those requirements, you’ll have a much easier time moving forward.

2. Focus on Quality With Every Post

To generate massive results, publishing quality content is key. A bland social media post isn’t going to get much attention. That’s why it’s better to give it your best effort and make a great impression with everything you share. And it starts with knowing what your target audience would like to see from you. Then, you can generate content that appeals to their needs.

As you create your content, be sure to include relevant keywords to increase the odds of it showing up in search results. That means more eyeballs on your posts! Don’t forget to attach an image as well because it’s the best way to get people to stop scrolling. Posting with an actual purpose is a sure-fire way to get engagement of all types.

3. Use Templates That Are Easy to Update

As mentioned above, imagery is another crucial element on social media. While your copy needs to be special, you also need pictures and graphics that’ll stand out. The best way to do that is to create templates that can be used over and over again. This will save time since you won’t have to start from scratch every time. You can even design a few options to switch it up on occasion.

But there’s actually another reason templates are beneficial as you manage social media content. Templates create a uniform look that will become recognizable to your audience. As they scroll social media, they’ll see your graphic template and take notice. They’ll immediately know it as a piece of content you created. That’s a smart way to cultivate a strong brand. So, create a template that incorporates your logo and brand colors for a consistent look.

4. Curate Content From Reputable Brands

Everything you share doesn’t have to be a fresh post you wrote yourself. Sharing curated content is a smart move and will help you better manage social media accounts. If you come across an article, video, or podcast you know your audience would enjoy, share it. It’ll be even better if you add your own two cents in an effort to kickstart a conversation.

5. Batch Create and Schedule Posts

Posting in real-time every day isn’t efficient when you’re a busy entrepreneur. You have other things that require your attention! That’s why it’s important to schedule posts in advance. To do this, it helps to first create a social media content calendar. This way, you’ll know what is supposed to be published, which platform it’s for, and when it’s going live.

From there, you can invest in social media tools that help with scheduling. Then, my advice would be to block off time to sit down, write content, and schedule everything. You can do this on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on how much content you’d like to create at once. The point is that batching helps you be more efficient because you aren’t constantly bouncing back and forth between different tasks.

6. Set Boundaries for Social Media Time

There’s no denying that scrolling social media can take up a lot of time without you even realizing it. That’s why we need to be mindful about how much time we spend consuming content. The best thing you can do is to have boundaries in place regarding how much time you spend on social media daily. For example, allot 30 minutes to scrolling and no more. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself watching TikToks and Instagram Stories for hours!

7. Hire a Support Team to Help

Being a solopreneur is great, but sometimes you need a little help. If you’re trying to manage social media tasks along with everything else on your to do list, it’s easy to get stressed. There’s no shame in hiring a social media manager for assistance. Not only can this person create content for you, but they can also schedule posts and respond to replies and DMs. This will free up time for you to focus on other important tasks to propel your business forward.
