My Favorite Twitter Features Every Creator Should Use

Twitter features

It’s no secret that Twitter is my favorite social media platform. I enjoy creating content to share with my community there. I love running my weekly chat, #TwitterSmarter. And I truly appreciate just how easy it is to make new connections and build relationships through tweeting. So, it always surprises me when people say they just aren’t that into Twitter!

The thing is, I think a lot of people are missing out on some of the incredible Twitter features that are available to users. These are features that make the platform easier and more fun to use.

My Favorite Twitter Features Every Creator Should Use

What exactly are my favorite Twitter features? I’m sharing each of them with you so you can start using them today!

Twitter Lists

Using Twitter Lists is an amazing way to cut through the noise, especially when you’re following a lot of people. That’s because a List is essentially a group of accounts that you’ve carefully curated. You can choose the focus for your List and then add people accordingly. Then, whenever you want to see tweets from just those accounts, all you need to do is access your list.

You can create Lists of your favorite content creators, publications you enjoy reading, or even your favorite celebrities. Whatever appeals to you! If you want to learn more, read my post all about Lists and ways to use them. I also have a handy how-to guide for creating Lists of your own.

Bookmarks

Have you ever come across a tweet that you wish you could save for later? Yeah, you could definitely just “like” it… But it’s easy for things to get buried, especially if you click that little heart for a bunch of tweets on a regular basis. Bookmarks is one of the fun Twitter features because you can easily save tweets to refer to a later time.

You might want to save a motivational quote that resonated with you, a blog post you want to read later, or a video you’d like to watch again and again. Your bookmarks are private, so it’s up to you.

Following Topics

Did you know you can follow more than just Twitter accounts? You can actually follow different topics as well. Once you do, you’ll start seeing tweets on that topic in your feed. These tweets will be from a variety of accounts, including experts and fans. It’s just one way to truly customize your experience on the platform and ensure you’re seeing the content that’s most important to you.

You can follow your favorite band or sports team to get the latest news. You can even follow TV shows, movies, and podcasts. This way you’ll never miss anything. Need the breakdown of how to follow topics? Read this post!

Advanced Search

One of the overlooked Twitter features is definitely Advanced Search. Twitter is so much more than that simple search bar you see at the top of the page. Advanced Search actually offers a lot of control when conducting searches so you can find the information you really want.

As you can see above, Advanced Search allows you to search exact phrases, exclude certain words, find posts from specific accounts, and so much more. If you’re trying to find something on Twitter, this is the way to go. It’s such a powerful tool!

Twitter Media Studio

If you’re someone who frequently shares video content on social media, this is one of those Twitter features you’ll want to take advantage of. It allows you to schedule tweets with media content, which means no need for a third-party scheduler for that. but you can also modify metadata, upload captions, and create a call to action for videos.

To access this feature, just create a Twitter ads account to get started. You’ll likely be prompted to put a credit card on file, but you won’t have to pay for anything unless you actually start creating and running ads. From there, you’ll be able to use a variety of tools to improve all of your future video tweets.
